PESHAWAR: Several constituent institutes of the University of Peshawar observed the United Nations Day for Malala Yousafzai by arranging separate ceremonies.
The day was marked with tributes to the girls’ education activist by the students and staff of the colleges.
The students viewed Malala’s contribution towards the enhancement of female literacy rate as commendable and hoped that her sacrifices would lead to educating more than 10 million children deprived of education in Pakistan.
The speakers termed education as the basic human right, which should be extended to all across the board without any discrimination. They hoped the government would fulfill its responsibility in educating the youth of Pakistan and invest in them for prosperity of the homeland.
They offered dua for Malala’s early recovery and vowed to stand by her mission and carry it forward to ensure that each and every Pakistani young child goes to school and gets educated.
The function was attended by Principal Jinnah College for Women Prof Dr Neelofar Zeb Arbab, Principal Hakim Abdul Jalil Nadvi University of Peshawar College for Boys Prof Dr Muhammad Ishaq, faculty members and a good number of students.
