The Roots Youth Model United Nations (RYMUN’12) concluded after four days of intellectual brainstorming, interactive committee sessions and exchange of ideas.
MNA Kashmala Tariq was the chief guest. High Commissioner of Mauritius to Pakistan Mohammad Rashad Duraewoo was the guest of honour.
The closing ceremony began with a note by RYMUN’12 Secretary General Fahad Imran, in which he shared his experience and insight and thanked the delegates, international and national, as well the chairs who took time out of their busy schedules to be a part of the youth conference. He said that such conferences are an excellent platform for the youth where their voices can be taken into account regarding the core and important issues pertinent to the world as a whole.
The RYMUN’12 commenced with an inauguration ceremony that integrated mesmerising Russian, German and Sri Lankan folk performances by the talented students. The opening ceremony was preceded by the RYMUN Global Village. In this event, the delegates coloured the floor with the cultural and traditional aspects of their respective countries. The fashion fiesta added vibrancy to the evening and the ramp walk added an extra spice.
The RYMUN had a stupendous approach towards contemporary issues that many countries face today. The earlier two days of RYMUN started with committee sessions. Serious and fruitful debates marked the agenda; major issues faced by the world were analysed.
High Commissioner of Mauritius to Pakistan Mohammad Rashad Duraewoo said that he was spellbound by the wisdom and awareness of the students who have participated in the RYMUN, adding that he will also attend the RYMUN 2013 with equal enthusiasm. He encouraged the participants to keep up the good work and research they have done in these sessions.
MNA Kashmala Tariq said that it is heartening to see so many students gathered for the Model United Nations that paves the way for those students who want to come into politics or become leaders. “You are not only our future but you are our present and our strength too. The country which has the youth so motivated has nothing to fear,” she said.
The grand event concluded with an equally grand closing ceremony where all high-achievers were awarded for their hard work and enthusiastic participation in RYMUN’12.
