Pakistani to face Indian in tennis final

KARACHI: After a recent clash of Pakistan and India in the Asia Kabbadi Cup in Lahore, the stage is all set for a fight between the two countries in tennis (Thursday) today in Karachi.

Jain Pawan of India is to face Pakistan’s Rasheed Malik in the final of men’s 45 plus singles of the PSO Pakistan ITF Seniors World Ranking Tennis Championship at Karachi Gymkhana.

In the semi-finals of 45 plus, Jain Pawan of India beat Sayed Mohammad Jalal 6-1, 6-4, while top seed Rasheed Malik defeated Imran Siddiqui 6-2 (retired). Mohammad Manzar defeated Mohammad Abdul Saeed 6-1, 6-3 in the final of men’s 35 plus singles on Wednesday.

In the semi-finals of 55 plus men’s singles, Jamil Khan beat Iltifatat Ahmed 6-4, 6-3 and Zafar Hassan defeated Akber Hayat 6-0, 6-3 to reach the final. In the quarter-finals of men’s 45 plus singles, Jain Pawan of India beat Tahir Gul 6-4, 6-4; Imran Siddiqui defeated Naresh Khatri 6-0, 6-1; and Rashid Malik beat Hafiz Qazi 6-0 (retired).
