IHC summons IGP in contempt case

Islamabad

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) here on Monday directed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani-Amin Khan to personally appear before the court in a contempt of court petition.

The petitioner, Sadaqat Ali, through his counsel Zulfiqar Ahmad Bhutta, adopted before the court that he is a resident of Balochistan and had applied for appointment in the Islamabad Police. He, however, received the call letter for interview after the interview date. He then contacted the high officials of police who declined his request.

He then filed a petition before the IHC that issued an order that the three persons who failed to appear for interview on the prescribed date, should be appointed on merit.

In his contempt of court petition, the petitioner adopted that the police high-ups did not appoint him even after the court orders.

The court directed the IGP to personally appear before the court on November 16.
