THE Lahore High Court Monday disposed of the petition filed by Canadian national Sikandar Singh Gill seeking recovery of his daughter who went missing and allegedly killed after her arrival in Pakistan on August 25 last year.
Justice Sardar Tariq Masood disposed of the petition after DSP Khalid Abu Bakar stated that they had registered FIR and arrested nominated accused Hafiz Shehzad Hussain. He said they had also recovered laptop of the deceased from his custody. He said the family of the deceased girl had also identified the laptop. He said they had contacted Interpol for arrest of prime accused Shahid Ghazanfar, who flew to Germany after killing her. Advocate Aftab Bajwa, counsel for Sikandar Gill, requested the court that Rajvinder Kaur’s bank accounts in Switzerland and Canada were still operative and they should be frozen. At this, the judge asked DSP to write a letter to banks to seek details and act accordingly. He also directed the DSP to hold investigation purely on merit and according to the law. Pursuant to LHC directions Sarwar Road Police on January 02 had registered an FIR under kidnapping charges on the complaint of Sikandar Singh Gill. In his application, Gill stated that his daughter reached Lahore Airport from Canada on August 25. He said she had Canadian passport, cash, laptop, gold ornaments and other things of personal use with her. He added that she was in contact with Shahid Ghazanfar alias Karishna Roy and Shehzad etc but so far they could not find her neither she called her family telephonically after reaching Pakistan. Her father alleged that he had suspicion that Shahid Ghazanfar with the connivance of his other accomplices kidnapped his daughter to deprive her of money.
