Youth policy on the cards: Subzwari

The Department of Sindh Youth Affairs is working on an agenda to frame a youth policy. The department is also launching several projects worth Rs1 billon and those projects would benefit youngsters of the province directly, the provincial minister Faisal Subzwari announced on Sunday.

Addressing a press conference, he said that the department was working on the upcoming provincial youth policy and it would be announced shortly. “At the moment, paperwork has been almost done and consultation on the new youth policy is being held with the people of different walks of life which are major stakeholders. The drafted policy would be later submitted to the Sindh cabinet for approval. After getting approval from the concerned authority it would be made public,” he said.

Keeping issues of the youngsters in mind, the department has decided to launch projects worth Rs1 billion that would benefit them directly, the provincial minister added. According to him, over half a million youths of the urban and rural areas of the province have benefited from different schemes of his department during the last four years.

“The youngsters are getting imparted training through different courses, workshops and seminars including entrepreneurship, vocational courses, as well as banking, finance and career counselling,” he mentioned.

Despite limited resources available to the department a number of festivals for the youths of Sindh were held, Subzwari told the audience.
