Woman found dead in house

LAHORE

A MOTHER of two was found dead in her house at Subzazar on Sunday.

The deceased, identified as Kausar, lived alone in the house after divorce. On the day of the incident, her body was found in her bedroom. It was yet to be ascertained whether she committed suicide by taking some poisonous substance or she was murdered by some unidentified persons. The body has been shifted to mortuary.

TWO BODIES: Gawalmandi police found the body of a 20-year-old youth on Sunday. Police claimed that the boy, yet to be identified, was an addict who apparently died of cold weather. Meanwhile, Lower Mall police found the body of a 25-year-old youth. Both bodies have been removed to morgue.

LIQUOR: Baghbanpura police have arrested a man and seized 50 litre liquor from him. The arrested man was identified as Aneel Masih. The same police arrested three gamblers, identified as Amanat Ali, Husnain Ali and Shabir. Meanwhile, Manga Mandi police seized 1,394 litres liquor being smuggled to Multan. However, the bootleggers escaped from the scene. Police have registered a case against the unidentified persons.

30 WOMEN AMONG 125 PROTESTERS BOOKED: Batapur police registered a case against 125 persons, including 30 women, for creating law and order situation on Sunday. Police said locals, while staging a protest demonstration against the suspension of Sui gas supply, blocked a main road and burnt tyres. Police resorted to baton-charge to disperse the infuriated protesters who also retaliated by hurling stones on the police.

WOUNDED: A 28-year-old man was hit and wounded by a stray bullet in the North Cantt area on Sunday. The victim was identified as Abdul Jabbar.

BURNT: Household items were burnt when a fire broke out in a single-room house in Islampura area on Sunday. Cause of the fire was stated to be short circuit. Firefighters put it out after hectic efforts. No casualty was reported.

SECURITY: Operations DIG Rai Muhammad Tahir visited Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday and reviewed the security arrangements made for T-20 Cricket Tournament. He directed the officials concerned to intensify the security arrangements.

55 ARRESTED: North Cantt police have arrested 55 persons, including 10 girls, on charges of merrymaking. Police also seized 58 cell phones, liquor, medicines and hundreds of thousands of rupees in cash.

ROBBERS: City CIA has arrested six persons involved in looting moneychangers and seized loot and weapons from them.

The accused robbers were identified as Faisal Saleem, Haroon, Rizwan, Babar Ali, Zahid Hussain and Ali Raza. They have confessed to various such crimes in the city.

Investigation DIG Ch Shafiq Ahmad has announced cash prizes and appreciation certificates for the police team.

RESCUE 1122: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) responded to 33,242 emergencies of different nature and rescued 45,878 victims in November, 2012.

The Service effectively responded to emergencies of different nature, including 12,929 traffic accidents, 18,376 medical emergencies, 554 fire incidents and 30 building collapse incidents, in the province during the last month while maintaining its average response time of seven minutes.
