ISLAMABAD: The 136th birth anniversary of the founder of Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah is being celebrated today (Tuesday) throughout the country with national spirit and enthusiasm.
The day will dawn with special prayers in mosques for the progress and prosperity of the country.
A number of programmes have been chalked out to highlight the Quaid’s guiding principles of unity, faith and discipline. It will be a public holiday and the national flag will be hoisted on all public and private buildings.
Quran Khawani will be held at the Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi.
Cultural and educational institutions have chalked out different programmes to throw light on the life and political achievements of the great leader.
The state-run and private radio and TV channels would also present special programmes and newspapers would bring out special editions in regards of the great leader.
He was probably the only person among all the great leaders of the world who never went to jail. He was the first governor general of Pakistan.
The Quaid-i-Azam’s vision of Pakistan was a democratic and impregnable welfare state where people could live with love, fraternity and harmony.
The government has already declared the day a national holiday. The national flag will be hoisted atop all government buildings to celebrate the occasion.

The president in his message urged for national unity to achieve ideals and principles upheld by the Quaid; defeat the demons of extremism and militancy that seek to strike at the foundational principles of Pakistan.
In his message the president said that the Quaid’s birthday was a day of rededication to his democratic ideals and principles. It is also a day to reiterate our resolve to defeat the dark forces that seek to undermine the nation’s founding principles.
“Let us also pledge today to fight to the finish the demons of extremism and militancy that seek to strike at the foundational principles of Pakistan of democracy, constitutionalism and rule of law” the president exhorted the nation. The president said that Pakistan was created as a result of democratic struggle led by our founding fathers and called upon the people to imbibe democratic values and principles.
He said that Pakistan which was created for the welfare of the masses and let us make it a welfare driven state in which every individual is allowed opportunities for the blossoming of their creative potential.
