People can’t be misguided by slogans of change, reforms: Nawaz

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Nawaz Sharif has said any conspiracy against democracy will weaken the country’s foundations and his party will foil all such designs of anti-democratic forces.

He said the people of Pakistan have become sensible enough that they could not be misguided through any slogans of change and reforms. The 180 million people of Pakistan would give their verdict in favour of the PML-N in the upcoming polls, he hoped.

The PML-N chief held separate meetings with PML-N central vice president Amir Muqam and India’s High Commissioner in Pakistan Sharat Sabharwal at his residence here on Friday.

In his meeting with Amir Muqam, Nawaz said political and economic situation in the country was deteriorating with the each passing day and it had become impetrative that fair, free and impartial elections were held in the country on time. He said the people of Pakistan had trust in the PML-N and that was why “politicians of principles” were joining this party.

Meanwhile, talking to Sharat Sabharwal, Nawaz said it was necessary to improve Pak-India relations to restore peace in the region.

He said all disputes between the two neighbouring countries should be solved through talks. During the meeting, all issues including Kashmir came under discussion.
