SUKKUR: The Sindh health minister, Dr Saghir Ahmed, suspended the district health officers of Shikarpur and Larkana during a visit to the measles-hit villages on Monday.
The minister during his visit to Sallih Patt asked the people there if the health department teams had vaccinated their children or not.
The minister found the DHOs of Shikarpur and Larkana to be negligent towards their duties and suspended them.
Meanwhile, The News has learnt that Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah had held the health department responsible for the outbreak of measles which claimed lives of hundreds of children.
Addressing a ceremony in Khairpur on Sunday, the chief minister said that if the health department had vaccinated the children, there would not have been an outbreak of measles.
