A man was killed and his friend injured in the Garden area on Sunday night.
Nabi Bux SHO Abid Shah said Mohammed Adnan, 32, and his friend Danish were sitting outside the former’s house in Daak Khana Gali, Shoe Market, Garden.
Two armed men on a motorcycle opened fire on and injured them.
The injured men were rushed to the Civil Hospital Karachi where Adnan succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased suffered eight bullet wounds on his upper and lower torso, whereas Danish suffered one on his leg.
Adnan owned a business and was also said to be affiliated with a political party.
Investigators suspected Adnan was targeted, as they found spent 9mm and 30 bore pistol shells from the scene of the crime, which they have dispatched to the forensic division of the Sindh Police.
Body found
A man’s tortured and bullet-riddled body was discovered in a garbage dump in Landhi No 6 in the morning.
Awami Colony SHO Hatim Marwat said the police had shifted Akhtar Hussain’s body to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
An investigation into the discovery revealed that the deceased originated from Panu Aqil in Punjab and had come to Karachi on the 9th of Muharram.
Police deduced that unidentified culprits had kidnapped Hussain and shot him dead after subjecting him to brutal torture.
The deceased was found with a bullet wound on his neck and head each, and while investigators suspected Hussain was targeted, other aspects are also being investigated.
