Farooqui’s appointment as Ombudsman lauded

ISLAMABAD: The additional responsibility given to Principal Secretary to President Salman Farooqui as Federal Ombudsman been widely lauded.

Sources in the Prime Minister Secretariat said that it was hoped that over seventy-five thousand complaints of public pending with the Federal Ombudsman Secretariat will be addressed soon.

They said that the career of Salman Farooqui showed that during the three decades he had performed with devotion any task assigned to him like setting up of educational institutions for the disabled, abolishing the curse of cycle-rickshaws, introducing digital phone and fax in Pakistan, completing the system of mobile phone optic fibre, which provides the facility of direct international dialling to Pakistan, completing projects of Islamabad-Lahore Motorway, constructing Ricky Indus Way on war footing, which had been lying incomplete, providing four thousand megawatt electricity on emergency basis in 1994 and laying network of dry ports in Pakistan. All these measures showed his professional abilities, untiring efforts and national zeal for the service of motherland.

Salman Farooqui was awarded highest national civil award because of his services. He has taken the responsibility of addressing the seventy-five thousand public complaints of common poor and middle class persons who are the victims of government departments.

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also gave the highest post of Secretary General to Salman Farooqui in recognition of his excellent services. Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto made Salman Farooqui her Secretary and former Premier Yusuf Raza Gilani appointed him in Planning Commission as Deputy Chairman.
