MINGORA: United Nations’ Special Envoy on Global Education Gordon Brown on Saturday phoned Kainat, who sustained injuries in the attack on Malala Yousafzai, and inquired about her health.
The former British prime minister paid rich tributes to Kainat and assured her of all-out support.
Kainat thanked him for inquiring about her health and extending support to her. Kainat told Gordon Brown that she would continue her education and wanted to become a doctor to serve the humanity. She expressed gratitude to the UN for observing the “Malala Day” across the world.
Malala and her school-mates Kainat and Shazia were wounded in the attack by militants on October 9 in their hometown Mingora.
Meanwhile, Quran Khwani was held at the private schools in Swat district to mark the “Malala Day.”
Special prayers were held for the early recovering of Malala, who is under treatment at a hospital in the United Kingdom. Glowing tributes were paid to her for bravely campaigning for girls’ education at a time when the militants were calling the shots in Swat.
Talking to The News, Kainat said the day was observed with the view to urge the parents to send their daughters to school. She said she was happy that Malala was showing signs of recovery.
