ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday on the advice of the prime minister approved conferment of Hilal-e-Imtiaz upon Ambassador Sha Zukang. Ambassador Sha Zukang is one of China’s leading diplomats and a close friend of Pakistan.
He has recently retired after serving for five years as the UN Under-Secretary General for Economic and Social Affairs. He has played a significant role in promoting and strengthening the Pak-China relations. The citation says that “In recognition of Ambassador Sha Zukang’s services to the promotion of the close and durable friendship between Pakistan and China and his significant role in strengthening multilaterism, the President of Pakistan has been pleased to confer on him the Award of Hilal-e-Imtiaz.”
