Preparations for Sindh Games finalised

KARACHI: The stage is set for the 16th Sindh Games in Hyderabad as all preparations have been made, the organising secretary Ahmed Ali Rajput told ‘The News’ on Friday.

The sports community across the province was panicked when a petition was filed in the Sindh High Court against the organisation of Sindh Games twice in a year, but the court ruled that the games can be held.

The 16th Sindh Games 2012, featuring 2,046 athletes and officials, are to be held from December 2 to 4.

Rajput said that he did not know the contents of the petition as he was giving final touches to the preparation process of the games.

He said that football competition, which was earlier not included in the 16th Sindh Games, had been included.

He said sports contingents would start arriving from Saturday morning in Hyderabad.

He said that residential facilities have been provide in schools, Colleges, rest houses and hostels of SSB and local hotels.

He further said that local administration of Hyderabad was fully cooperating and all preparations of the games were being made with their help.

He said that SSB had its own sports complex in Hyderabad where maximum number of sports events could be held easily. It also has its own swimming pool.

The athletics events would be held in public schools. The track for athletics events in Hyderabad is considered among the best.

The Karachi contingent will depart for Hyderabad on Saturday morning. Musheer Rabbani is the chief de mission of Karachi contingent.
