THE Lahore High Court on Wednesday took Gujrat police to task for failing to recover a missing person of Gujrat despite lapse of several months.
Gujrat Investigations SP Javed Iqbal appeared before the court and said that efforts were being made for the recovery of missing person Saqib Hussain, however, more time was required to complete the task.
The court, dissatisfied on his statement, remarked that poor performance had been wasting precious time of courts. “God knows better as to when your efforts will meet success,” the judge observed in a dialogue with the police officer.
Justice Mazhar Iqbal Sidhu said the Punjab chief minister claimed that traditional attitude of police would be changed soon but it appeared that there would be no change.
He warned the police to produce the missing person on the next date of hearing otherwise the court would show no reluctance in issuing order to Punjab governor, chief minister and chief secretary.
The court will resume hearing on December 6.Petitioner had alleged that police arrested Hussain without registration of any case against him and did not produce him before any court of law.

One Saima Shehzadi had filed a petition in the court, seeking registration of a case against her ex-husband for allegedly giving her life threats and throwing acid on her face.
She said that her ex-husband Syed Jawahir Zaheer was an employee in the federal government. She got divorce from a family court after their relations did not go well. She alleged that the accused now had started harassing her.
She prayed to the curt that the SHO concerned be directed to register a case against the accused. Upon which, the court had directed the SHO to record the version of the petitioner but the SHO did not do so.
Later, petitioner filed another petition, seeking compliance of the court order, upon which, the Chowki in charge was summoned who stated in the court that both parties had reached a compromise.
The following day the petitioner informed the court that no agreement was reached between them.The judge then directed the CCPO to look into the matter and take departmental action against the Firdous Market Chowki in charge who misguided the court.
damages case: The District Consumer Court on Wednesday summoned parties for preliminary arguments on November 20 in a case, seeking damages from the owner of a dry cleansers shop allegedly involved in misplacing shirt of consumer.
As per case details, Saeed Awan submitted that on September 13, he visited the aforesaid shop at Baghbanpura and handed him over a suit for washing. He contended that that on the said date of delivery, he once again visited the shop to collect his dress but the respondent did not return on plea that the clothes could not be washed. Later on, he came to know that the shirt had been misplaced. He pleaded that the respondent again promised to hand him over the lost shirt within three days but in vain.
He prayed the court to direct the respondent to pay him Rs50,000 as mental torture and Rs5,000 for his clothes.
