‘Peace restoration still a big challenge’

NOWSHERA: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain said on Friday restoration of peace would be a big challenge for the next government.

“The next government may have to render more sacrifices for restoring peace in the region. Therefore, the masses must elect leadership having the courage to offer sacrifices,” he said.Addressing a public gathering at Taru Jabba village, he said the Awami National Party’s role in the war against terrorism was an open secret.

“We have restored peace at the cost of our lives,” he said, adding that the terrorists’ network had been shattered and they were unable to impose their negative agenda on the masses. The ANP leader said the terrorists had categorised the political parties and wanted to hinder the way of secular and democratic political parties in the forthcoming elections.

“The terrorists want to occupy the parliament and if they succeeded in getting their favoured parties elected, it will not only threaten the peace in Pakistan but in the whole world,” he warned.

He said the masses had no option but to vote for the ANP in the next general election as it was the only party capable of steering the country out of prevailing crises.“Democracy is the best system of governance and our party is ready to forge electoral alliance with any party for the cause of democracy,” he said.

The minister said elections would be held on time. He asked the ANP workers to launch

election campaign and win public support. On the occasion, several local families joined the ANP.
