MIRANSHAH:
A tribesman was killed and another sustained injuries in a landmine blast at Dattakhel area of North Waziristan near the Afghan border on Saturday.
Government officials said that Sinar Gul and Bakhtiar Gul were on their way home in Dattakhel area when one of them stepped on the mine which Pakistani troops had planted in the area for their security.
Both of them were airlifted in the Pakistan Army helicopter to the military hospital in Bannu as the Agency Headquarters Hospital in Miranshah and other health facilities are closed for the past 11 days due to lack of electricity. The power has been suspended by the Bakkakhel tribesmen in Frontier Region Bannu to the entire tribal region and parts of South Waziristan.
One of the injured, Sinar Gul, sources said, died on the way to the hospital. The sources said Bakhtiar Gul was admitted to the hospital where he was stated to be in a critical condition.
Meanwhile, a 10-year old boy identified as Fareedullah was seriously injured when the security forces from Amin Picket in Miranshah allegedly fired at the boys who were playing in an open area close to Miranshah village.
He was taken to the Agency Headquarters Hospital in Miranshah where the doctors advised his relatives to shift him to Peshawar as they did not have arrangements for his surgery.
