Lahore: A meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to review security arrangements for the metro bus project.
It was attended by Inspector General of Police Punjab, Secretary Home, Project Director BRT, Additional IG Special Branch, CCPO Lahore, Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board and DIG Operations. Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said the scheme was a splendid project of the Punjab government which would provide relief to people and they would forget their inconveniences. He said a foolproof security plan would be formulated for the metro bus project under which a central control room would be set up to keep a vigilant eye on every route. He said latest CCTV cameras would be installed on the routes and best security arrangements be made at bus station. He constituted a committee, under the chairmanship of the Home Secretary, which would present a medium and long-term plan for security arrangements. The chief minister directed making Rescue-1122 Centre at the elevated section of the route and said that comprehensive planning should be made to adopt preventive measures to combat any unpleasant situation.
He said the metro bus service was a historic and unique project for people and it was a collective responsibility to protect the great asset. He said all possible steps would be taken to ensure security and maintenance of the great project. Various proposals for security arrangements were reviewed during the meeting.
