Islamabad: Chief patron of Islamabad Festival Mian Muhammad Aslam and chief organiser Zubair Farooq Khan inaugurated the main camp of the mega event at the F-9 Park here on Wednesday.
The second edition of the Islamabad Festival under the aegis of the Iqra Foundation would be held at the F-9 Park on November 17 (Sunday).
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event, Mian Aslam and Zubair Farooq said the purpose behind organising such an event was to provide a healthy activity to people of all walks of life and ages. “The event will help them exploit their talent and ultimately prove fruitful for the nation and humanity,” they said.
They told participants of the ceremony that various events for youth, women, elders, minorities and students of religious seminaries were already in progress at different places. “We hope the event will attract thousands of citizens across rural and urban areas and twin cities,” Mian Aslam said.
He was of the view that such programmes also help in creating brotherhood and harmony among residents of Islamabad who belong to different parts and regions of the country.
