FPCCI team arrives in Delhi to attend IITF

NEW DELHI: A high powered trade delegation of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) headed by its president Haji Fazal Kadir Khan Sherani reached New Delhi on Monday to attend the inauguration of India International Trade Fair 2012, the annual mega event of India scheduled from November 14-27, 2012 at Pargati Maidan, New Delhi.

The FPCCI delegation comprises Haji Fazal Kadir Khan Sherani, Muhammad Iqbal Dawood, Begum Salma Ahmed Shah, Shakil Ahmed Dhingra, Azhar Majeed Sheikh, Nasiruddin Sheikh and other renowned businessmen.

The FPCCI delegation will participate in the inauguration of IITF 2012, being inaugurated by the premier of India on November 14 and anticipated to be attended by the visiting counties exhibitors, delegations and high-level dignitaries.

The FPCCI president on arrival at the New Delhi Airport said that this high-level business visit on the sidelines of IITF2012 and a record participation of Pakistani companies at IITF2012 to constitute ‘Pakistan Pavilion’ is reflective of the depth of existing bilateral relations between the two countries.

He said that the two countries should promote bilateral economic and trade relations to alleviate poverty in the region.

The FPCCI since more than a decade has been organising participation of Pakistani exhibitors to India International Trade Fair under the ceiling named Pakistan Pavilion. This time around a record participation of 176 companies of Pakistan will exhibit their different commodities, including textile sector, the handicraft industry, herbal cosmetics industry and the fashion design industry under one roof, said Nasir Abbas, director general of the FPCCI.

The delegation, besides attending the inaugural session of IITF2012, is also scheduled to meet its counterpart FICCI and hold meetings at the government levels with India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) and Commerce-related departments of the government of India.
