Bike riding banned in Hyderabad, Quetta, Islamabad



ISLAMABAD: The government has completely banned motorcycle riding in Islamabad, Quetta and Hyderabad for the 9th and 10th of Muharram as a security measure to avoid any untoward situation during the Ashura.

In the federal capital, the local authorities have banned bike riding from 10:30 am to 8 pm.Earlier, on first of Muharram the provincial governments of Balochistan and Sindh had banned bike riding in Karachi and Quetta for 10 days but the Sindh High Court suspended the directives of the Sindh government. Later, on a Sindh government plea, the SHC allowed the government to ban bike riding for two days – 9th and 10th of Muharram – as an extreme step to control situation.Sources, meanwhile, said that instead of the ban on pillion riding the government can prohibit bike riding all over the country.
