Some 32 senior professors have applied for posts of vice-chancellors of King Edward Medical University (KEMU) and University of Health Sciences (UHS) on the last date for applications on Friday.
Senior as well as junior professors of the Health Department have applied for the posts. An official of Health Department believed that the appointment of regular vice-chancellors in KEMU and UHS was expected in the first week of December.
Meanwhile, in a press statement issued on Friday, the Young Doctors Association (YDA), Pakistan, has hoped the appointments of vice-chancellors of KEMU and UHS would be made purely on merit as political appointments previously damaged the universities.
